Local’s Guide: Exploring the Heart of Mt. Tolmie
Welcome to the neighborhood! Whether you are here for a weekend getaway or an extended stay, our three adjacent vacation rentals at www.welchhomesandhospitality.com are in the Mt. Tolmie area of Saanich East put you exactly where you want to be.
This primarily residential pocket is beloved by locals for its quiet charm, academic energy (thanks to nearby UVic and Camosun College), and—most importantly—its accessibility. Everything you need is just a short stroll or a two-minute drive away.
The Crown Jewel: Mount Tolmie Park
Right across the street from your front door lies one of the best views in Victoria. Mount Tolmie Park sits 120 meters (398 feet) above sea level, offering a 360-degree panoramic spectacle. From the summit, you can spot:
The Saanich Peninsula and Mount Douglas
The San Juan Islands and the Olympic Mountains
The iconic Mount Baker in Washington State
With 1,500 meters of hiking trails winding through Garry oak meadows and Arbutus trees, it’s the perfect spot for a morning coffee walk or a sunset photo op. Keep an eye out for the historic WWII-era concrete spotting station at the top!
