The Neighbourhood Star: Horner Park

Located just across the street from your vacation rental, Horner Park is the neighbourhood’s go-to destination for family fun and outdoor relaxation. While Mount Tolmie offers rugged heights and views, Horner Park provides nearly 5 acres (2 hectares) of level, beautifully maintained green space designed for active play and community gathering.

Here is why our guests love visiting Horner Park during their stay:

For the Kids: A Modern Adventure Playground

The playground at Horner Park is a standout feature for families. It is designed with accessible components and variety in mind, featuring:

Diverse Equipment: Slides, swings, monkey bars, and a rock-climbing wall.

The Sandbox: A popular spot for younger children to engage in creative play.

All-Ages Fun: Equipment is tailored for children from toddlers to pre-teens, ensuring everyone has something to climb or swing on.

Summer Programs: During the warmer months, the park often hosts the Saanich Neighbourhood Playground Programs (SNPP), creating a lively, supervised environment for local and visiting kids.

For the Pups: Off-Leash Freedom

If you’ve brought your dog along to our pet-friendly rentals, Horner Park will be your new favorite routine. It features a designated off-leash area where dogs can run and socialize.

Plenty of Room: Wide-open fields are perfect for a game of fetch.

Amenities for Pooches: You’ll find drinking water stations and waste disposal bags on-site to make your visit easy.

Safety First: Please note that dogs must be leashed within 10 meters of the playground and are not permitted on the sports courts, keeping the park safe and enjoyable for everyone.
For the Active Guest: Recreation & Sports

For Recreation Enthusiasts: A Variety of Play

Beyond the playground, the park is a hub for casual athletics. Guests can make use of:

Sport Courts: A basketball court that also serves as a street hockey area.

The Ball Diamond: Great for a casual game of kickball or baseball.

Picnic Perfection: With several picnic tables (some reservable) and ample shade from mature trees, it’s an ideal spot to enjoy a takeout lunch.

Comforts: The park features a year-round washroom and clean walking paths that are navigable even on those classic misty Victoria days.

Whether you're looking to tire out the kids before bed or give your dog some morning exercise, Horner Park offers a peaceful, welcoming "backyard" experience just minutes from your front door.

The Crown Jewel: Mount Tolmie Park

Right across the street from your front door lies one of the best views in Victoria. Mount Tolmie Park sits 120 meters (398 feet) above sea level, offering a 360-degree panoramic spectacle. From the summit, you can spot:

The Saanich Peninsula and Mount Douglas

The San Juan Islands and the Olympic Mountains

The iconic Mount Baker in Washington State

With 1,500 meters of hiking trails winding through Garry oak meadows and Arbutus trees, it’s the perfect spot for a morning coffee walk or a sunset photo op. Keep an eye out for the historic WWII-era concrete spotting station at the top!
